Some of my old cassettes were stored in my garage for over 3 years where the outside temperature can go as low as -40 sans wind-chill factor. I brought some of them inside the house and played with them and found out that there was no degradation to the sound whatsoever. Btw, I still have something like 200 of them still in the garage.
