The real shocker was that the Red Book standard was based on 20-second musical samples no more than 2-3 seconds apart - and the authors of this study found, using objective EEG and PET scans, that sensations of musical pleasure required *more* than 20 seconds of exposure to occur.
Hmm, I'm not a Ph.D., but why does it take 20+ years for researchers to discover that a 20-second exposure is NOT a good way to design an entire musical transport system? Jeez!!! To think that more than 20 years of bad-sounding Red Book CD's, Dolby Digital, and MP3 are based on a defective test protocol!?
