Stabilize Analog Milliammeter

Hello Inmates:

I am using 0-100 ma Edgewise Shurite meters to measure the DC cathode current on my monoblock amps.

The meters are installed one on each power tube directly between the Cathode of the KT-88 tube and ground.

There is a I small mini toggle SPST switch that shorts the meter when not in use. The amp is a Dynaco MK3 clone with individual adjustable bias conrols (Amp PC board and kit from Triode Electronics).

When I make current measurements, the meter tends to dance around a bit and sometimes makes wild swings.

Is there a way to dampen this movement and make the meter settle down?

If I install a small 0.01uF cap in parallel would this help?

The series DC resistance of the meter coil is 1 ohm.

Thanks,
Rich
