From a customer's perspective, I question the value added by a local dealer or online seller would be worth the circa $4k5+ extra. I'd be willing to pay up to $2K for a local dealer, guarantee etc for that item. Without understanding the dealer expenses involved, more than double the cost does seem steep.

Reviewers frequently mention the quality old school build quality etc. of LM amps and their apparent inexpensiveness. I see it in their physicality, but not in some other aspects of the build.

I imagine it sounds quite nice, especially for less efficient speakers.
