I have added one Hovland bypass to the primary output DC blocking caps, a 1.5uF 630V Hovland. I also have wired the driver filament with a switch to allow 6.3VAC as well as 12.6VAC octal tubes. If you can't find a nice 1940's RCA smoked glass 12SX7 (a 12.6VAC tube) then I suggest the RCA smoked glass VT-231 (a 6.3VAC tube) or some 6SN7 type you feel is better for your system.
