It's DrM's version of the Bottlehead "Groove Thang" phono preamp. It uses those "C4S" active loads that works as both regulator (current in this case) and active load. DrM used all 600V Rel-Cap polystyrene caps for coupling and RIAA. Imaging was focused to nanometer resolution and microdynamics were fast as a speeding bullet.I'm going to outdo him one step further and have the first coupling cap be teflon. I'm also going to see about enriching the harmonics a bit by trying out different tubes for the second stage, not all 6ER5's. This phono stage of DrM's may actually be too resolved for my tastes, a little too lean and mean for my ears to take for the long run. But what a ride. I am totally sold on that "C4S". From bass to treble it's so completely articulate and low distortion with these things.
