There is no need to saw off anything. Buy a regulated supply with multiple plugs. Use the right one and solder your supply cable to it. That is it.
Unfortunately in UK one cannot buy an off the shelve 5V linear regulated supply. All one can get is Switching or 4.5V and 6V.
