No, as a former product manager for medical gadgets (user manuals are part of the deal and reviewed by FDA), I can say with certainty that these particular gadgets, fun as they are, are NOT 'plug-n-play'.

BUT, that's not the point of a $100 DIY project.

As a former kit builder (HeathKits in the 60's) I'd say the Raspberry Pi is more right in the kit builders strike zone.

And like the Heath Kits and Dynaco's of the past, good sound is icing on the cake.
