it reminded me that I once owned/used one of the skinny Mapleshade IC's (the ones in the baggie type sheathing).
I was a digital IC and it was the least expensive offering @ the time.
The Mapleshade worked well with my CAL Icon MkII/Bel Canto DAC 1 combo, though the only commercial cables I compared it to were an inexpensive Purple/Mauve DH Labs and a much more expensive Kimber Illuminati (or something like that).
I ended up preferring a DIY cable (based upon instructions/guidance from Richard @ Vantage Audio in the UK) using my 47 Labs OTA cable along with their non metallic RCA connectors.
Aside from the wire gauge there is also sheathing (dialectic?) and connectors to consider.
The Mapleshade IC had heavy/massive RCA connectors, which is kind of an odd choice considering how small the signal wire was.
Anyway, If this info doesn't help you might simply look into getting a good spanking.
