The thinnest wire I can find a rating for is 40AWG. Although different charts show different ratings, depending on what they are used for the max rating for 40AWG looks like .0137 amps for current transmission. That is around 1/100 of an amp. Now I suspect that 54AWG is on the order of 1/2 of that based on circular mills. Not that I really need to know because I just suspect that 40AWG would be extremely inappropriate to use as speaker wire connected to amplfiers with like 1/2 amp to maybe as much as 10amp fuses. Geoff's use of 54AWG wire for speakers , speakers that don't carry much current according to him, would be on the order of 10 times less appropriate to use than 40AWG. Is there a different ward for the craziest of the craziest? Tweaker
