I would still call the 811B and 511B horns "passable" (while not disagreeing with the 'fashion' comment. There is a lot of fashion in hifi -- imagine that?!).
Either of the aforementioned Altecs is far more ear-friendly, I'd opine. than the execrcable MR horns used, e.g., in the "classic" Klipsch Cornwalls.
