Valencia undoing advice

Hi,

I am making some changes inside the cabinets on my Altec Valencias. I want to mount the 811B horn to the front of the cabinet on the top of the horn. As they come, the horns are mounted at the bottom corners only. (Flamencos are mounted by the top corners only; just the opposite.) I have made the 1" x 1.5" x 20" wooden piece to mount the horn to.

The issue is how to remove the wooden piece at the top of the photo that is too small to mount the horn to. I have unscrewed the three screws and removed three wood staples I thought were holding it in place. It appears to be glued to the front of the cabinet as well. Should I use a pry bar and tear it out or use some other method?
