I'm not sure if my problem was identical -- but the error was the same:My 777 would occasionally let out a pretty impressive clunk -- whether playing or just on. Then, one day, playing a disc, it suddenly froze and produced a mysterious error code (which I no longer remember).
After that, it would spin a new disc, it would load, and spin, and then report that there was no disc.
It was back at Sony for 5 weeks -- they apparently replaced an integrated circuit somewhere -- and it seems to be ok.
