I have no experience with the Etymotic IEMs, but I can speak for the SE535s which I've owned for ~3 years. They are an excellent portable choice and can be driven directly from an iPhone (I currently have the 6S). Fit is extremely comfortable (I use the black foam tips), noise isolation is excellent and the sound signature is very conducive to classical music (accurate, not overly-analytical, not prone to extended-listening fatigue).

I've previously owned the Shure E3s...the SE535s are better in all described terms.

Highly recommended.
