RE: Stereophile without Art

Jim, I think you've kindled a lot of new energy and introduced more color and flavor compared with JA's more strictly linear--and sometimes predictable--approach. So, thank you for that.

No easy task to satisfy all your cantankerous readers, me among them. But, in my view, idiosyncratic voices like Sam, Art, and Herb are where the magic lies.

We can read a dry, competent audio component review in lots of places. But Stereophile is a place where an audio review can be a means of connecting us to something even more: a personality, a philosophy, even an entire world view. That's what Art was able to achieve.

So, find those quirky, opinionated writers and let them loose. It may be a little messy, but, in the manner of 2nd order harmonic distortion, some degree of messiness can be a very pleasing thing.
