Measure the voltage at the IR remote receiver sensor (usually around 2.5 - 5 Vdc) for TSOP package. Typical IR sensor datasheet below. If you cannot measure anything, then it has to be the PSU. IME, I never had an IR sensor that died on me unless you accidentally or purposely exceeded the specified Vs rating value.
Of course, eliminate the obvious first like battery of the remote, resetting the unit Off and On, remote control is line of sight to the receiver, etc.
