high current being the key; even more so than wattage IMO.
The emotiva UPA-1's are 80 lb power plants.
bi-amping is the other key; I use a Marchand 44M crossover which dedicates all the energy of the Emotiva's into the bass panel(s). I can control how much energy is pushed out through the gain control on the XO.
