As long as you're not using an eq or tone controls there's no reason the XPA-1's (I assume you're running two) should be causing 1.6's to flap.
Also the music content could be a fact as well, overly pumped bass by the engineers could cause problems with any system, but even more so with Maggies.
I've been running a pair on my MG20s bass section going on 8 years and I've never heard flapping or any other kind of artifact for that matter.
And I've ran them BRUTALLY at times, enough to shake the walls.
