Interesting point about the spacing of the DWMs vs the main speakers. I have moved them forward, back and side to side. But I always measure too, looking at the separate impulse response (DWM and main speaker) and combined frequency response in the 30-300Hz range.
The DWM seems to respond faster than the large speaker (logically) so I generally find it has to be as much as 12-24 inches behind the main speaker for optimal alignment (1-2ms delayed). I move the speaker forward and back to align the phase, then side to side to optimize the filling in of nulls.
It's a bit trial and error, but best optimized with the help of measurements.
