I don't recall if the DWM existed before the Mini Maggies. But Mini Maggies would have no bass without it ... the crossover between the mid-ribbon panels and the DWM is 200Hz. Also the DWM is recommended as the low end paired with a CC5 center which also does not respond below 200Hz.
But there are articles describing using two DWMs with a pair of 3.7s. Despite some references to them extending bass below 30Hz, there's no repeatable method for this and my testing shows they have no effect below 40Hz. But since they can be independently placed, they certainly can fill in nulls.
If you pair them up without measurements and without any parametric EQ, it's kind of a shot in the dark.
