Has the seller mentioned any work done at any time?
Play them pretty loud, listen carefully for any irregular sound, vibrations, etc. If possible remove the socks and inspect the wire as its applied, any loose spots. Look for cold solder joints.
If they have never been repaired, then yes, pretty darn good chance you'll have to at some point.
