Re: Quad 2805 problem

Obviously, the first thing you need to do is swap the speakers, left to right, right to left. Then see if the problem follows the speaker.

I had a similar problem once with my esl 63's. I would've sworn one of the speakers is way off. Now I'd owned these speakers for 20 years, and had themm in this listening room for close to 5. Despite that it turned out to be a problem of placement and acoustics. I adjusted the positioning of the speakers, and the problem disappeared.

If you've never owned Quads before it can be difficult at first to appreciate how room dependent these things are - partly because of that rear sound wave. I'm not exaggerating when I say that moving as little as a couple of inches off axis can completely change the character of the sound you experience.
