All the record companies are affraid this digital bootleggers heavenly format is gonna destory them. You dont suppose if enough people suggest to the record cats that they abandoned cd's and go back to vinyl, will actually work will yoy? I mean, I'f I'm gonna play 15 bucks for a peice of plastic without attractive liner notes, gimme a break! Hell no I want 180gram vinyl and detailed notes or some cool art. Could this be a new beggining for vinyl?

No. just look for more security in the future like encryption and watermarking. music will probably branch out into 2 directions with music being sold online in w/ compression technolgy and CDs (DVDs or SACDs or DADs or whatever ends up taking hold) being sold in stores. The only major thing holding online digital music back right now is a lack of an online micro-payment system. Unfortunately, the insudstry considers LPs totally dead (in the US anyway, its still has quite a following in europe, but cassete tapes are still the number 1 medium in europe). These are kinda the rough industry plans at this point and as you know we pretty much go where the industry tells us.

Cassette tapes still the no.1 medium in Europe? Where about in Europe, cos I know for a fact that tapes are dead in the water in the UK!

I still use a reliable old Nak for recording but nobody buys pre-recorded tapes anymore and most hi-fi enthusiasts are moving to MiniDisc for recording.

All I know is thats what they say. They say the cassette/CD ratio here in the midwest (US)is something like 40/60. But I don't know anyone who buy cassettes either. Must be someone.

MP3 is a good thing .... now new artists have a way to put out music and we have a way to listen to them and then buy. If that breaks the stangle hold of labels on music, all the better. Labels would rather go to sacd than vinyl.
