Message Sort: Post Order or Asylum Reverse Threaded
Sorry, all, but I gotta rave about this record again..."Long Lost," by Lord Huron.

It's a pastiche, a delicious multi-layered cake of musical styles and forms going back to the '50's. Think folk, power pop, surf, Ricky Nelson, psychedelia, country and girl group. That's right; girl group. And it all adds up to some of the most beautifully melodic music I've heard in years and years. The sonics are mush, and the last track on the album is a clinker, but the sound quality adds to the dreamlike quality of the music and it's a two-record set, the last track takes up all of Side 4, so it's easy to skip. The title track alone is worth the price of admission. The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message. |
