Heh.
I've got enough record cleaning solution to last literally until I die. I could use some Simple Green around here, but for other purposes.

My old homebrew recipe was distilled water, simple green, and some anhydrous alcohol. Nowadays I just use whatever my buddy has available since I clean everything at his house on his machine.

Right now all my autographs are strewn in Gallo wine boxes just past the mayo jars filled with bottle caps.

this is become news. I never used simple green beyond a few free samples. I liked the idea of a universal cleaner, but didn't like the smell.

needing to clean a set of car wheels, I followed online suggestions and bought a big jug of the stuff, if memory serves correctly, instructions from simple green say it is safe for aluminum wheels. With the usual , " when used as directed". which apparently works for some people posting online.

luckily for me, a further investigation found the military says to not use simple green on aluminum wheels, so now I was stuck with the biggest jug I could find at my local hardware store.

I figure my jug will be a lifetime supply. from my experience with the wheel cleaning attempts, second checking , what I believe to be sincere advice for both uses, might be good for peace of mind.

for the curious , I went with another chemical wheel cleaner , griots garage heavy duty wheel cleaner , and a big stiff non plastic biodegradable brush.

I've been using the stuff for years, it's great with greasy kitchen areas or the kitchen in general. I use it in the bathroom as well. It did wonders lifting dirt out of the grout on my 60+ year old tile floor in the bathroom, in fact better than a dedicated cleaner I had used. Yet it's not harsh at all.
I bought a gallon jug 8 years ago when I moved in, mix it down about 10/1 water/simple green in a manual spray bottle. I think I have about two refills left. I believe it would be a very good record cleaner but used mixed down as directed.

How about a mosaic of Matt Paxton made from pasta that expired in 2002, mouse crap, gobs of string that are "special" and therefore can never be thrown away?

Hazmat suit with one of those rubber masks, the ones with two filters that'll keep out radioactive particles.

I've used it on my motorcycles, cars and big industrial machine tools for decades. It's always been the shit! Get's into grease and oils like nothing other, years and years of grime build up? Soak it with a 10% solution and let it sit for 10 minutes, hit it with a hose and it goes away. Why not use it on records?
