Greetings fellow inmates. I was diagnosed with brain cancer nearly two months ago. A Neurosurgeon removed a malignant lyphoma and since that surgery, I've undergone two rounds of 5 day inpatient chemotherapy. Two more sessions of chemotherapy scheduled. Prognosis is uncertain. I have a relatively rare and agressive form of brain cancer. Will know more in about a month when another MRI is done after the fourth chemo session. I'm generally in weakened state from the chemo but I'm at least pain free. Here's some of my recent spins. BTW. Chrissy Hynde of Pretenders is 70 years old today. The photo of me with Chico and Lucky was taken a few days ago, at a favorite hiking spot on nearby Polecat Bench. Normally, we'd do a rugged 3 mile loop but this outing was limited to just 1/4 mile from where we parked. Nice to get out to enjoy the beautiful weather and fantastic scenery.

Best wishes on your treatment and recovery, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma in October and did six months of chemo. Now I'm signed up for a stem cell transplant requiring a twenty day stay in uppity Palo Alto (CA)

My doctor described how after prodding my bone marrow to produce more cells with drugs they're collected by a centrifuge machine and my blood is then returned, and I go home while they modify the cells for return to my system.

I was picturing a big state of the art looking machine but it was a small plastic enclosed portable thing on squeaky plastic wheels.. I was really disappointed.

Nice pics of a serious collection, and anyone who restores old Willys has to be a good egg.

Bought my Pretenders self-titled Lp back in the day. Remember searching record stores for a copy, coming up empty... then shopping, probably for a different band/ different album on another day and finding that Pretenders album by chance. The store also had a Pretenders promo poster, which I begged to take but someone had already made a claim to it.

the same procedure as Craiger56, and it's worked wonders so far. Amazing what they can do these days.

I am worried to find out on the 23rd if I might have prostate problems, as some big embarrassing changes are taking place as well as high PSA numbers.

I think we have all enjoyed your posts, so keep them coming.

More great records, more great music, more great dogs.

But that is not great news about your cancer and it makes me sad to hear.

It IS great that you are being treated and I hope that your remarkable spirit
gets you through this difficult time and into a healthy future.

Prayers and best wishes to all there in one of my favorite places to see pics from!

There's an another cover for that LP. Bringing the second copy home I had no idea it was an alternative cover. Some good stuff in post and as always a fun look. Thanks for the pics.

Hoping you'll see good results from the MRI next month. Good luck.

Theres probably incoming emails that I miss. Many times I just glance at the inbox, bulk select and delete whats mostly spam. I'm guessing your query was about transfer service. I am still doing that but with time constraints imposed by five day inpatient chemo treatment sccheduled every three weeks.

For years, my wife Cindy worked as a private caregiver caring for Lynn a lady suffering Parkinson's Disease. I spent a fair amount of time with Lynn, her husband Victor and Cindy while she was 'on duty.' Lynn was confined to a wheelchair and could barely talk, her voice not more than a harsh, frail and soft whisper.

One evening I put a homemade "Mix CD-R" on Victor's stereo. This compilation featured hits from the 40s and early 50s from my collection of 78s. Sinatra, Doris Day, Benny Goodman, Dorsey Brothers, Andrews Sisters, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee and so on. Lynn instantly lit up on hearing this wonderful music from her early life. With a big smile, she began singing along with the tunes on the stereo in a clear, loud and beautiful voice.

The other and more personal experience is mine. My wife bought a nice new Sony CD boom box two weeks ago. For my most recent 5 day bout of chemotherapy at Billings Clinic, we brought the boombox and about 150 CDs. It was wonderful listening to my favorite music for hours on end and it helped in reducing my anxiety and boredom. For those curious, The Virus 7 CD is Heavy Metal released in 2000. The title really has nothing to do with brain cancer.

You're welcome and I hope you're getting the best in care. My infusion nurses have said people come from all around the world to get treated at Stanford.

They just got a new scanner that replaces twenty year old technology.

Who knows what lurks beneath our epidermis? All the more reason to enjoy, do something useful, and learn something new every day. Oh yes, and to enjoy some music!

cactus, I feel like I know you as a friend, just from seeing your record collection and dogs in posts here. So I'm sad to learn of the cancer, but positive about the potential outcome because of medical advancements as others noted, and what seems to be a great attitude on your part. Stay strong and win this one!

Discog images. The Texas Flood is the Pure Pleasure 2 disk set - with a short comment by SRV and 4 added tracks. These were all out of my inbox - first time I played them. I'm keeping all - the Savoy Brown & Robert Cray most exceeded my expectations.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis - cancer is a cruel disease which has taken my father and all of my uncles. Hopefully you beat the odds and continue to enjoy this hobby and your incredibly extensive (and impressive) collection!
I well remember Transvision Vamp from my youth and have a number of their 12"s - thanks for reminding me to listen to them again whilst I pray for your treatment to be successful.

Dave,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay positive as it goes a long way towards the outcome. I can attest to this being a cancer survivor myself of almost six years. The 5 year survival rate was less than a 6% for the type of cancer I had. May you have a full and speedy recovery.
