Everyone who has a "Ringmat" swares by how wonderful they are, which has me wondering: (1)How much thicker are they then a regular felt mat? (2)If they are thicker, what effect will this have on VTA? This is important to Rega owners as their is no VTA adjustment on Planer tables. This creates another problem in my situation as I am using the Clearaudio Aurum-beta S, which has a problem with the lift platform, which won't clear the record enough to work. I managed to solve this problem by raising the platform with a small allen wrench, but the clearance is quite small. I'm trying to avoid using shims.

Its a couple mm thicker. In my case, my VTA is dead on with it, but then, mines adjustable.

Sort of. Take off arm. Insert shim of required
thickness. Put on arm.

Shims are available from Rega, from Michell, probably
from anybody who builds TTs that come with rega arms.

Or, if you know a machining shop, have your own
made. May cost $10 each.
