I picked up an original low hour Silverspot while my ZYX is being rebuilt.

I set it up using a Mint Protractor, it was a little difficult trying to see under the body for the alignment but it wasn`t as bad as a Dynavector 17d3 that I had before.

Set tracking force to 1.9 gm.

Played 3 albums, a favorite of mine:
Joe Cocker 'A luxury You Can Afford
Jack Johnson 'To The Sea'
The Teskey Brothers 'Run Home Slow'

This cartridge really surprises me !
Not bad at all... I Really like it
I didn`t expect it to be so quiet in the grooves which took me by surprise.
I wonder about VTA though or maybe adjust tracking force, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

....which has the Ogura Vital stylus on a sapphire cantilever. Also very quiet in the grooves. Tail up on VTA for me, just a bit. Enjoy your new baby.

$12 or $15 bucks and you'll wonder how you got along without.

That could work ! I use a couple of small LED flash lights to shine up under the cartridges that works too.
Thanks for the tip !

The VTA is almost level but tipped to the back ever so slightly.

I`ve played a few more Lp`s and it continues to impress me.
It has a nice natural woody sound to it that I didn`t notice on other cartridges like I do this one.
Word descriptions in audio can be tough, but, by "woody" I mean, in hollow body instruments the tone sounds more real.

It images nice and wide too !
It`s a bit more delicate sounding sometimes, for example on Dire Straits 'Private Investigations' where you hear a window pane being broken in the back ground, with the Kiseki it sounds more like a crystal champagne glass being dropped to the floor and shattering.

Anyway...
My ZYX got back here this week and I`ll be taking the Kiseki off and either sell it or put it away. I REALLY don`t know which yet it`s that nice.
On another note :) I have a Rega P10/Apheta3 on the way and I`m looking forward to how that combo sounds.
I`m going to leave the ZYX unopened incase I decide to just sell it.

Thanks
Steve
