A very good article about stylus shapes, though I read about RCA's Dynagroove and the article indicated it only lasted from 1963-64, and only due to the fact that when introduced, Dynagroove was too aggressive and when RCA went to modify it for 1964, the elliptical was introduced, rendering the need for Dynagroove moot so it apparently was dropped.

This article puts the introduction of the elliptical to 1970, so which info is correct?

Other than that, it's a good overview of the various stylus shapes, though I heard Peter Lieverman say in a video that the Micro Ridge is not uses as much now as it was when introduced due to the fact that while it did last longer, wear minimized, the line between good and bad tips was rather extreme and thus suddenly, it was bad, damaging your LP's long before distortion set in, it was rather sudden as they later found out being why.

Most other shaopes, the degredation of the tip was more gradual overall.

I was very young in 1970, beginning Kindergarten that fall and got my first record player, I think in 1971. Mind you, it was one of the portable AC/DC players with the built in AM radio so had a crystal, or ceramic (likely crystal) cart. :-)
