Craft Recordings one step of "Lush Life".....

24.20.10.236

...was offered up for sale this morning and sold out in three hours or so. Incredibly small run of only 1000 copies limited to one per purchase. I am really interested to hear what it sounds like compared to the OJC or original pressings. Nice box at any rate.

There is some magic between Ronstadt and Riddle.

IMO, Bernie Grundman is the best.
Too bad I've already got two copies...

The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

But the one step is an object of fetish. As much an artifact as an album. I think that it will appeal to the collectors more so than the audiophile, but who knows?

Spotted a Coltrane two-fer, one of those reissues from the 1970s. Was so shocked to see any 'Trane that I just bought it.
Record one is Lush Life, record two is Soultrane. Didn't realize until I got home.
Already had OJC reissues of both.
Another of the two-fers, Mating Call is record one, Tenor Conclave is record two. Pulled that one out to play it last night but I'd never cleaned it and yup, it needs a clean.
Anyway, guessing all these super pressings are already sold out?

I prefer the sound of the Fantasy twofers to the OJCs., posted on January 14, 2021 at 14:58:27
They seem richer and more focused. I pick those up whenever I see them. Good call.

with my DCC CD ( Steve Hoffman ) and AP vinyl ( Kevin Gray ) to see if Bernie can do some magic. Interestingly either copies I own are somewhat wanting. They sound remarkably similar even tho done by different remastering engineers. I got a feeling that original tape they both worked from might not be pristine as say, some Blue Note master tapes Music Matters worked from.

Looks like the Craft reissues are all gone. I might ask my record collector maven to see if they are getting it. If I have known about this, I would probably have gotten the copy as Lush Life is one of my favourite Coltrane album.

some of those '70s reissues were mastered by Rudy Van Gelder.
In which case, yeah, I'll take those, thanks.

That I can say about Craft is that they did a great job on the soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas and did a great job reproducing the original blue Fantasy Radial Stereo label and the tip on jacket cover.

ReMastering is really good. I have the late 80's, I think CD and the remake from Starbucks, with the Starbucks being better, but the LP from Craft is the best of the three.

Pressing is flat and quiet.

Not my kind of music so I did not know about it. )MT(, posted on January 14, 2021 at 20:45:17

Scored a copy, may compare it to an original and and SACD I have. Didn't expect it to go so fast.

in the sense that it will be like flipping a switch. The virus is here to stay, and it is up to us to find a way to get back to normal while protecting ourselves from it long term. The vaccines appear to be a giant leap forward. Now we need a drug or drugs that prevent the damage that the virus causes to the body, as well as preventing death.

But why wait to do your shoot-out? You could do it any time now, with masking and reasonable distancing. The ears can be uncovered, ya know.
