To the point: move the amp away from the turntable.

I know - it's an OLD topic, but it took me time to figure it out, so I'm posting to potentially same someone else time in the future.

My receiver's edge was 16" from the cartridge in resting position and there was an audible hum. I moved the receiver to 21" away and the hum is inaudible. The ZF3 cartridge sounds beautiful.

That was after trying everything else.

The receiver is a Sansui G-2000. The table is an Oracle Alexandria MkII, and there is no hum induced from the motor.

Nice product.
Luckily, my Oracle has a DC motor. The hum was being induced by the receiver's power transformer.

Interesting product - reminds me of the old VPI mu-metal bricks that were intended to "pull" magnetic fields away from amplifiers. (Interesting company - check out the list of articles on their web site, below.)

In the case of my LP12 and Grado, the hum stopped when I turned off the motor. The Grado is nice, but fortunately there are alternatives that don't hum.

I'm aware of this issue yet I've used Grado wood bodies in my Thorens TD321 with SUmiko MMT tonearm and has had no issues. I'm thankful because I enjoy the way that the Grado's reproduce the music. I listen primarily to classical and jazz.

Nice! I used a Grado Platinum years ago, and the midrange was spooky realistic. I imagine jazz sounds great with them.
