Maybe I'm over complicating this.. I need to drill a new arm board (for a TD124 / Series 6 Audiomods combo). This is the same geometry as a Rega RB250 - 222mm. I thought the device I linked below would do it, but the vendor says no. Is it just a simple measurement? Or is there more to it than that?
Thanks
Steve

I would've thought that device would be able to give you a 222mm distance from the spindle?

But, yes, all it is ... is a simple measurement (to the centre of the spindle).

Sorry to hear the Nerve Audio doesn't do it.

What I did for just a few Bucks: Buy a cheap metal metric ruler graduated in mm's. Carefully drill a spindle-sized hole at 1 cm. Another at 232 mm. small/large enough to press fit a finish nail in it. Jockey the finish nail around to ensure where you drill for the arm post places the arm assembly where cueing lever, etc. allows all the room you need front and back, side-to-side and tap the nail.

Starrett 500 mm ruler, or $10 bucks for a HOme Depot cheapy

I use a simple pair of trammel points. The end that accepts a golf pencil is just right to slip over a TT spindle. Of course you do have to account for the difference in height. I use the pivot (pointy) end to scratch an arc at the prescribed distance. Then I figure out where on the arc I want to place the tonearm.

Note: the pencil holder end unscrews and you can put in the other point and then use that to set the distance between centers on a ruler. You also need to make sure the micro adjuster is set so that the point is square to the trammel bar.

A metric ruler with an empty sewing thread bobbin (it's hole is exacctly 1/4 inch. With a nail at 222mm. Works like a charm for a few cents

Before I saw your pic, just reading the AA e-mail, I worried the spool would raise the ruler at one end. I guess that piece of clear plastic allows the already mounted arm post position to adjust?

Keeping the ruler flat, obviously, is essential for finding where to drill the hole in an armboard w/o an SME type adjustment.

The pic doesn't make that clear.

You can use this device.

You just need to use the Pythagorus theorem to calculate the distance between the slider and the pin along the main metal shaft.
