Might just be my best ever impulse buy.

I have found a lot of those "impulse buys" in the 1.00 bins especially. I have found those Rounders are pretty nice overall and are often translucent vinyl.

I'm piling up so many hours on it, I'm going to need to replace the stylus by August.

It's sweet. I stacked a thin home-made mat under underneath the wool mat to get better VTA with the VM540ML and it just locked in.
I'll have the chance to audition an Exact in my system soon. I'm considering an Exact II once I get some stuff sold. No need to worry about alignment or VTA.

One thing, when you told me of the Rega Bearwald alignment, it's simple to use and it helped with sibilants etc too but what I have found every time I spin those 7" rekkids, you know, the little stiff, often styrene jobs with the big hole in 'em? Yeah, those. :-)

Consistently, the damned Rega tends to sort those out ridiculously well, even those old vintage ones from the 60's, for better or worse.

Most of the time, it's an improvement, but scratches don't disapear, damn it! Seriously, outside of that, the surface noise is rather quiet and the songs sound overall sorted and clean, some produce prodigious, rolling bass that is more felt than actually heard on some, others not as much, and it all depends on how they were mixed and mind you, up until 1970 for US pressings, all are mono but still come off sounding impressive. Also, my cracked styrene copy of 96 Tears actually has treble! Yes, not this tired sounding 45. To be honest, I did not see the crack when I bought it, but if I "fix" it right, you don't hear the crack at all when playing for the most part anyway. Yes, mine is an original Cameo/Parkway issue, but not the very first pressing in the red/black label, but the later modern graphic orange/yellow version. Oh well.

Anyhow, well worth the price of admission in my book, that's for sure.

Got a oldies reissue of "Little Darlin'" by the Diamonds, it's amazing how good that record sounds.

have been excellent. Always wondered how these smaller labels can afford to do that.

Doesn't have the impact of the Rega, but considering when it was designed and how many years it's been out of production, it's one damned fine turntable.

I don't think Rebel used the same quality vinyl as Rounder. My Seldom Scene records have good recorded sound but the pressings are noisy.

so that label gets my vote. I don't care about a little bit of surface noise.
