moderators, please re-direct the spinning posts with only links to YT, to one of the music asyla. i come to the vinyl asylum to READ,or look, not listen.

even though i requested the Jazz Asylum to read about jazz, i also began posting links to YTs and others followed suit. understood. but in vinyl, i prefer to use my eyes.

Logical?

This is a great recording?

This is an unusual recording?

This is a poor example?

This was the last record I happened to play?

Etc., etc., etc.

The post could have meaning if the poster would say why they are offering it to others. If you cared enough to share it tell us why.

Tim, i agree, way more than only the link is needed here. a discussion of the artist/group, recording points of interest, or anything other to make the post interesting in kind with vinyl interest attached.

for instance...the eponymous recording by Osamu Kitajima-Osamu-is a unique blend of rock and Japanese Jazz with definite attributes such as consonant sound effects pertinently recorded and woven into the fabric of the music such as a running brook, a campfire, and a two cycle motorcycle revving its engine in an undistracting way.

and then there is the wonderfully executed, stratospheric vocalizations of the great Minnie Riperton in perhaps the best performance of her short career. available on used LP on the net and on CD from Osamu's own
East Quest Records, Inc. Website:http://eastquest.com/

now THAT makes it worthwhile looking at.

Hi Tommy, I found the Music Asylum, but I could not find YT.

I don't remember now how I discovered it but I did buy the Osamu album you linked shortly after it was released. I enjoyed it because it was so different from the average pop-rock release. Plus it had good sonics and could be utilized in component evaluations when tired of the regular war horses.

So when "Masterless Samurai", the follow up, was released I got that too. Unfortunately I don't feel it measured up. But then I find that to be the case with many artists. They may have one album I enjoy but all subsequent albums are either too similar or else fall down in appeal.

At the same time there are some musicians where I have nearly a dozen or even more than 20 of their albums.
