I have a Yamaha YP-D6 turntable that has a problem. At record's end, it is supposed to lift the tonearm off of the record, return the arm to the arm rest and switch off the motor. It does not lift the arm, but returns the arm to its rest, scraping the stylus completely across the record in the process. Ouch!

It seems everything works as it should except for the arm lift. If anyone can direct me to sources of fixing this problem, I would be grateful to hear from you.

Thanks,

George

O-ring like belt that controls the arm lifter. Maybe yours broke. Might check the Vinyl Engine for a service manual.

I had the same problem. My work around was to adjust the height of the tonearm lift so that that the lift just touches the tonearm when the tonearm is resting and snapped into the arm rest. This does mean the the arm is quite high over the record when the tonearm is lifted. My device has lost some damping so I have to gently use the lever manually to lower the tonearm. To test it, remove the stylus or put the stylus guard on, move the tonearm manually with the lift down to the end of the spinning record and let the auto return come on. For testing I put an old record that I don't care about on the platter.

I hope this make sense. At the time I got the turntable I could not find any info anywhere. If you discover the proper way to solve the problem, please let me know. I am using mine with a Denon 103 and it sounds great.
