I am just learning there is much about my turntable system and related stuff I am not familiar. Back in 2012 or 2013 I purchased a Jolida JD-9 modified but never used it. Now I have a separate small music room and I now want to begin using the Jolida, Yamamoto HS-1A headshell, Jelco 750DL and the Denon DL-103R which I think will work very well together. Even though I've got my turntable on a shelf wall mounted, I still need to be able to level my turntable. Where can I get an extra TT belt? I've looked on Ebay but not sure about buying there.
Can anyone help me find "height adjustable isolation feet" for my TT? Never noticed before, but there are holes on each corner of the base. What are they for? Can something be screwed in them?
I have an excellent CD turntable and for years I've listened to CD's. I am just getting back to wanting to listen to the many LP's I have both classical, folk and jazz. I am looking for all the help I can get to setup my turntable correctly. Finally, what can I use to clean the bearing of my VPI Super platter with inverted bearing? Thanks all.

When I got rid of my Super Platter and replaced it with the Classic aluminum, the increase in fidelity was enormous. Greatly suggested.

SgreenP,
Thanks so much for your response. I think one of my first order of business is being able to level my TT so that what I have will provide better sound.

Hello ASHRA,

Thank you so much for your response. My thinking is that others who own my turntable will have needed to level their TT. That being the case, someone will have used various leveling devices, footers, etc. I am hoping to hear from those individuals. I will contact VPI if I don't get responses regarding my request here. Thanks again.

My Mark 3 came with little rubber feet (like the ones shown on this picture of the jr) that screw in and are adjustable.

HW-19s came with rubber knobs on the end of 1/4-20 bolts that thread into those holes you mentioned. Probably available on Ebay.

Lots of accessory cones with 1/4-20 threads at all the usual suspects" Music Direct, Elusive Disc, is Garage-A-Records still in business?, Parts Express (maybe cheapest) , Ebay, etc.

As I started doing research, I found that Townshend Seismic Pods look like they will work. I am sure there are other adjustable supports available as well.

Hello and good evening Tre,

My TT did not come with those footers. Of course I purchased my TT used with ordinary rubber footers glued on each corner. The "Screw-In" footers as shown on your TT will certainly do what I am looking for. Thank you for this photo. I clears up a lot for me sir.

FYI: The thread size of the feet on a VPI HW19 is 10/32 !

Interesting. I double checked and my Series III, upgraded to IV, is 1/4-20.

Here it is with 1/4-20 cones I bought from Parts Express.

I used multiple 'post it' notes to place under the feet to level it., posted on April 16, 2017 at 07:31:31
For both of my turntables, I used post it notes to adjust the final level.
I started leveling the stand as best I could. Then leveled the isolation shelf. Then finally the turntable itself.. (measuring at the platter)

plain old slips of paper work really well.

My Mark 3 and Jr has 10/32 size thread. VPI made many changes over the years,I guess they changed the thread size on the feet. Who knows?

These are the feet that came with my early 90's VPI HW-19 turntable, 1" long - 3/4" dia.
I suggest you ask your question over at the VPI forum.

RE: Let's not forget what threads per inch means, posted on April 17, 2017 at 05:01:39
8-32, for instance, one full turn is a 32nd inch. Half a turn, one 64th and so on.

To the bolts that thread into the chassis I always add a pair of nuts, one to snug up to the chassis, the other tightened against it to lock them in place

I can't imagine needing paper shims with mechanical adjustment that fine. To each his own, I guess.

in correct colors, ink type and with the write fonts in nice pens(wo)menship not only will
your TT work better and provide better sound, your listening pleasure will be upped!

Also stack them at incongruous angles for ultimate effect.

Sounds anti-intuitive but does the trick.

Good Monday Afternoon Grinnell,
What a great idea. I had not given that a thought. I will head out to Home Depot shortly and pick up 4 bolts. This will do until I can research and find what I want. Great idea. Thank you so much sir.

Bob, I use these and they work quite well.
I also use Herbies grunge buster dots underneath the spike protectors, and on the lock nut that goes against the base.

Bob I will try calling this weekend.

Hi Bob,
Buy two sets. Cut off the heads of one set and grind the ends to a point. Also get some nuts to lock the bolts onto the base to prrevent any wobble. Compare the spike vs nonspike end bolts for yourself. Let us know which you like better. Good luck and have fun.
Regards,
David

Hello Sidewinder and another great idea. I did go to Home Depot and purchased a pack of 5 (five) 10/32 bolts. However, when I tried to screw them into the bottom of TT case. The bolts were too small. As a matter of fact, I think the pieces the 10/32 bolts screw into had been removed from each of the 4 holes. So, since I don't know what the pieces are that should be screwed into the holes and then will be able to hold the 10/32 screws, I am at a lost now. The only other alternative is to purchase 4 flat top adjustable isolation footers. Does anyone know what the pieces are called that can be screwed into each of the 4 holes that would actually hold the 10/32 bolts? Where can I purchase them from? Thanks all.

You need a t-nut to put into the holes on the base. Then you can screw the bolts into them. Here they are!

What would I do without each of you. BCR, we know not because we ask not :). I learned long ago there is no such thing as a "stupid question" unless it's the one not asked. Thanks so much. I'm headed back to Home Depot tomorrow to pick up one of these "T-Nuts". Now, I also saw what is called a "Socket Cap Screw which looks as if it has threads. Once the 4 "T-Nuts" are installed on the TT base, what holds them in place? Glue? Finally, how will I know which size to get for the 10/20 bolts? Is this the standard size for my TT? Just asking. Thank you again.

Hi Bob,
You should get 10/32 bolts and matching 10/32 t-nuts. The previous owner must have removed them. You don't glue them ,you tap them into the holes with a hammer. You might have to turn the table upside down to do this . Try screwing the bolt into the t-nut at the store before you buy them. Here is the t-nut that should fit.

Hello again BCR,
I clearly understand your instructions and will follow them. I'm off to Home Depot tomorrow early to pick up what I need. I will also make sure the bolt fits the T-Bolt before I leave the store. Thanks again sir.

Good Wed Morning BCR and thank you for your guidance. I purchased what you suggested (T-Nuts/10/32 bolts) and am on a roll.I have already hammered in the T-Nuts on the base and ordered rounded black footers from Ebay. I just have to wait til they arrive. So far very good.
I ordered some screws to mount my Denon DL-103R to my Yamamoto head shell and found them to be too short. The thickness of the Yamamoto wood head shell and Denon seem to require longer screws. I will try "Needle Doctor" and return to Ebay to see what I can find. Thanks all.
