Rare "instant collection" records and considering the artist, not terribly pricey for Beatles' collectors.

I have read about these, and I think India is the final place where 78s were produced. nt , posted on March 26, 2017 at 18:03:59

Even in mint condition, which is super rare for any 78, $2000. for one 78 is crazy money. However, some collectors might have the funds ready...

Here is a crazy 78 auction price that has happend more than once though . . ., posted on March 26, 2017 at 23:50:47

Although we may never know, since it was a private deal between McCartney and fellow Quarryman Duff Lowe.

I'm also betting this is still the most highly valued record of any, type, given that it was in 2004, and that there was only one copy ever made.

" In 2004, Record Collector magazine named the original pressing as the most valuable record in existence, estimating its worth at £100,000"($126,000 USD at today's exchange rate)

And I saw Vishnu, man.

With apologies to Cheech and Chong's "I played Black Sabbath at 78 speed" routine, and of course to George Harrison, who sang I'm Happy Just To Dance With You.

A very interesting post, Musetap, thanks for it!

Thanks for the post. I had never heard of this one. I agree with your guess. nt, posted on March 27, 2017 at 16:56:25

No cover of She Said She Said?

Hearing Alvin sing the line, "I know what it's like to be dead" would have been interesting!

OK, but it was not a commercially popular "single"....., posted on March 29, 2017 at 15:26:29

The '60s 78s from India were the last of the 78s. They did not offer 45s for popular hits, like the rest of the world, yet. I can understand their desirability, for some cool listening sessions. 78s, like 45s, were mixed differently than the same era LPs.
