my friend's vinyl setup, I helped him get into high end (picture)

My good friend Yog has some hand me down equipment from my experiments into the high end over the past 2 decades, a Technics SL-1200MK2 which I bought on Ebay new for $250 when some guy had about 100 of them, there were tips here on Audio Asylum about that. I gave him Audes Excellence 1 Speakers, a Musical Fidelity integrated and CD player + Polk PSW650 subwoofer.

He usually comes by to hit the bong (I own two bongs but don't smoke weed, just the usual gentlemen manners, when you have friends that want to smoke weed, you provide the bongs during listening sessions). I also provide the lighter.

He loves Death Metal and Electronica, so that's his setup. Just thought I would share, so many of us go through equipment like changing socks, it is good giving it to good friends who share the love of sound.

That's cool. I recently set up a friend with a turntable and new cartridge, after his many visits to my house listening to records. He repeatably thanks me.

And that would be Vader (in the black cape) on the left speaker. Room treatments, of course.

Nice tidy rig. Needs an FM tuner.

bullethead,

You're a good friend indeed :-)

But tell me, where did you get the Dalek?

Cheers,
SB

An evil alien life form whose goal in "life" is to kill you, and to kill anything that is not Dalek. Or... a pepperpot on wheels. :-)

Very cool to see a true music lover's setup. He came by his audiophile hobby honestly (via a friend through their shared love of music).

Death Metal and Electronica = Tangerine Dream's Rubyicon album? Hmmmm. Between Lord Vader, the Dalek, and that album that he has on his rig, I'm going to say your friend seems like a pretty cool guy.

nice & tidy indeed but not high end., posted on March 25, 2017 at 03:07:35

He was the music director at our college radio station, I used to hang out in our radio station, but never knew about so much of the music world as he did, he taught me a lot, I appreciate our friendship. He is the most chilliest friend I have, and I only have three friends.

I was not aware of Dalek, they seem very set in their ways with only one mission.

I have some free time, might check out Dr Who to see what that show was about. They don't make shows like they used to apparantely, besides the underground YouTube independent film makers.

I don't have a TV, but I have a projector, are or is this a show or a particular movie of Dr Who I should check out? Excuse my ignorance,

You are a good friend indeed! I love the setup. Technics TT, a purist indeed. I am loving the shelving for his albums.. That is my next purchase and that one is very cool!

Plus "True Norwegian Black Metal" on the shelf.

And is that a light saber in the corner?

Happy listening,

Dr. Who reruns play on BBC America, maybe you can get episodes online? Or one of the streaming channels? Pretty darn good, my friend.
