peteSF	Great cut from a great LP. I just listened to it the other day for the first time in ages. It has held up well. Saw them in 91' w/ Anthrax. I have also been listening to lots of 80's punk rock, oh, and I wore a Crass shirt the other day. . . mmmm, wonder why I feel this way? p

I grew up in Long Beach CA, where P.E.and other "performers" often reference.

This stuff and it's derivatives, not my cup of tea.Thought the entire scene was nonsense back in 80. Thanks to MTV, it helped inspire the nation to dumb down,have illegitimate kids and speak like an idiot.

Amazing how this "lifestyle" influenced pop culture nation wide.

Edit:WAIT, I got my rap knowledge mixed up-these guys are east coast-Nevermind
I confuse these guys with the "others" from LA.

Much of my favorite music whether it be rock and roll, punk, freejazz, heavy metal etc is or was frowned upon by those who make little effort understanding what youth and rebellion and coming of age are about. Some 20th century classical music, Stravinski for example, caused riots and was thought to be the coming ruin of civilization as we know it.

P.E sits nicely beside my Alice Cooper, Clash, Stooges, Sex Pistols, Gang Of Four, Dylan, Stones, Nirvana, Black Flag, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, Misfits, Doors, Metallica, Beatles and many other LPs. Nothing you said about P.E (inspire the nation to dumb down,have illegitimate kids and speak like an idiot) has not been said about many of those Bands/LPs.

I never watched MTV and can only say I was influenced by sounds new, revolutionary, and groundbreaking (not always good), mostly rock and roll.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Yeah, it's the written opinion that's can get misunderstood

No disrespect to the fans of the music. My lack of follow through thought blew it there.

I think we can agree PE and similar attract listeners/fans of certain lifestyles?

All your mentions there.., I blast a copy almost daily.

Despite the fact that it's my 50th birthday today, and that I wasn't the biggest fan of P.E. AND that I grew up in Queens, NY which was a mecca or I guess you could call it one of the birthplaces of modern urban rap, which made my listening to "New Wave" and that radio station WLIR all the weirder, (how's this for the run-on sentence of the week?....it's my birthday I can run on if I want to) I now listen to P.E. and all the other rap groups from the early 80's with the same enthusiasm I had for the Eurythmics and their style back in the day.

Like the Punks and later the New Wavers, the Sugar Hill Gang and P.E. and (we have reached the limit of the artists in this field I can name without google) the rest were musical pioneers who had to INVENT OR REPURPOSE TECHNOLOGY to create the unique sounds that defined the genre. That right there is always something that gets my respect and my attention.
