AP just released VENICE and THE ROYAL BALLET two disc set. This is a reissue of the set done by Classic Records in the 90s. THE ROYAL BALLET done by Classic was quite good, garnering some very positive reviews. I have a couple of copies and agree they were well done, though I've never heard an original. VENICE, however, was not so good with strings sounding harsh and far from the much lauded original. For the Ansermet AP discs, Grundman mastered from the original tape, though I don't know if it was the same mastering as the Classic version. For VENICE, Willem Makee in Europe mastered this. I don't have either version yet and was wondering if anyone has heard either one or both.
