I just happen to have two Dale PH-100 (100 watt) power resistors in 9 ohm value. There is almost no chance these are anything but wirewound and they probably are inductive. Is it possible to use these as dummy loads for an amplifier under test? Advisable? What are the downsides of using an inductive wirewound? Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
John

I've been using a set of wirewounds I bought from Radio Shack for years. Haven't had any problems yet.

Standard wirewound power resistors are fine for this. I have never purchased non-inductive resistors for audio loads.
