This gorgeous mcintosh tuner preamp came to me for test and eval. I would never have predicted one side of secondary B+ winding is flapping in the breeze. The result is half the needed power but lovely bright filaments as other windings are OK. I suggested to owner we get a generic hammond and set it up on outboard subchassis but he is too disillusioned to do anything with it. Has anyone else ever seen this happen and if so, what was the solution? Thank you.

I would have Heyboer rewind that transformer for me. nt, posted on May 28, 2022 at 11:58:31

I was not surprised at all when mcintosh factory stated in no uncertain terms they will not provide a new xfmr or faceplate. And heyboer states they will not perform repairs on this xfmr. So my original question remains: has anyone succeeded it strapping an external little hammond generic on a failed mx110 to make it work again?

Are you asking whether Hammond makes a transformer that's suitable for this? And why wouldn't you want to replace it on the chassis? I haven't worked on a MX-110, but I would consider opening the transformer case and installing a substitute from Hammond or Edcor.
