Back in the early 80 Jerry's Audio carried Phase Research speakers. This was when I was building my first system. I wanted the model R but at $800 it was out of my range and I opted for ADS L520. This went with a Pioneer 60 watt integated, a PL516 TT and a Pioneer system timer(why?). Not a bad entry level mid fi system. I dreamed about owning the Model R for a number of years but ended up with Polk Model 10Bs and NAD electronics to get me through college.

I met the designer, Phil Clements, at CES a couple of years back.

Thing about that first entry level system - if I still had it today I probably could sell it for as much or more than I paid for it. Now for those Model Rs this seller is chargeing 3x the 1980 new price - good luck with that.

I threw a pair of those on the backyard fire a couple years ago. They sounded great going up in flames.

The crowd roared, then shut up and went back to drinking.

Ever wonder why a junker stereo is selling for $6k.

A few years ago a poster commended how an ebay stereo auction really was in mint condition. Sure it's mint because that's MY stereo.

Go to Goodwill, buy some crap with a recept, post a fake online picture of something, pay an unusually high amount of money. What could be simpler.
