I always wanted a 250M. However I was never able to get my hands on a good one. FINALLY I found a good one. Bob Speece, over at the AudioKarma Marantz group is well known for working on the 250. He did an amazing job.

Do note all the parts that were replaced with modern better quality parts. All the semi conductors like diodes and transistors were replaced with beefier and better quality parts. As well as the usual caps, relays, etc..

This amp sounds every bit as good as it looks. It far exceeded my expectations.

Enjoy the pictures.

The 250M is a wonderful amp., posted on April 8, 2017 at 14:47:15
Wish I still had mine. The 250M is worth keeping for a lifetime.

If you don't mind my asking, what did the entire project set you back?

Buying the amp and having it rebuilt was $1050. Bob had a 250M in "stock" as it were.

I had a similar attachment to a Threshold Stasis 3 amp I used for over thirty years. Sold it last year because it was a bit of overkill for a garage system.

Used the proceeds to help fund new cores for the Sound Labs.

I"m finding that my hearing is starting to go a bit. So I think this level gear is about as good as I should use on these ears.

My other hobby is astronomy. Now my eyes are going as well making my other hobbies even more difficult.

yes, have to agree, nice work, and clean looking unit.

Nice add with the panasonic 2.2uf bypasses.

Years ago, I had at least 2 copies of every Marantz amp from that era. Sure brings back some memories.

happy listening.
