Hi all,

Just in case some of you haven't been keeping up with the latest offerings from Viborg?, it certainly seems they're producing some wonderful pure silver connectors of late.

And in said case | it appears we've very nice options to the usual makes from companies like WBT | Furutech | Oyaide | Cardas type offerings, so I merely felt duty bound to add these.

 Thanks for the tip! No doubt it would make a wonderful interconnect with the much loved Xsangsane pure silver cable, sold in bulk on Ali.

Yes it certainly would, yet as I've noticed over the last four years, many cable designers when using pure silver wiring for their IC's, often use pure copper or red copper, as well as gold plating to offset an otherwise brightest signature of the wiring less than 3-5N in purity.

No all silver cables are built the same | in my case the worst offender like ever was a pair of Harmonic Technologies Pro Silway MK ll's I had back in 2009, talk about a rather harsh and muffled sound. Had I known better I'd have invested into a pair of Acoustic Zen Silver IC's, or the then used Synergistic Research Tricon Silver Matrix IC's I replaced the HT Pro-Silway IC's with from the beginning.

 The Xsangsane pure silver cable states it's 6N %99.9999 Sterling Silver single crystal. Sterling silver is %92.5 silver mixed with copper. Sterling silver is not suited for audio.

 I am a skeptic on the quality of metals used by the Chinese for connectors. I have purchased a few and used a Dremel to remove the plating. Pure copper connectors were actually brass.

Did the same with my Viborg banana post.

Are they really brass? I removed the un-conductive coating and it looks and tarnishes like copper.

 The important factor is there are a number of different grades of brass and copper. Pure or dead soft copper has very little memory. This means it has little or no spring back. It is also easily bent. In order to gain memory another metal is mixed in with the copper. Brass is just one of a number of such metals.

 Yes, I know that. 688 brass is the most commonly used highest copper content brass. Some of the copper alloys are less conductive than 688.

 Any recommendations on "best audio" non-Chinese copper banana plugs?

Love the form of the viborg. Very "cardas" looking... which I like with my Cardas speaker posts, but don't like paying Cardas prices.... but will if no other choices. .

 Banana plugs require a metal with memory so I suspect you will only find them using a copper alloy. My guess is those sourced from manufactures in Taiwan, and Japan would be higher quality of metal and plating. USA and European manufacture as well.
I have never looked into Banana connectors to find a good source.

 I guess no one remembers Edison speaker wire binding posts which could accommodate either a spade connector or a banana plug. Edisons were made of copper (tellurium?). You could never get them really tight on a spade connector, because the metal was too soft to take much torque. I think I still have a pair or two.

 I remember the brand. I have used Vampire copper binding post of years. Copper holds up well in this application.
