1973shovel Audiophile Posts: 10117 Location: Greenville SC Joined: February 25, 2007	I got a significant improvement upgrading the 7818 voltage regulator in my phono stage to a +18V Belleson Super-Regulator. How significant? More than any cable upgrade I've ever done, and it only cost about $43.

I recently saw a group test of various "low cost" supplies and the ZeroZone 6A LPS came first with by far the lowest noise and ripple.
So far everything I've found about that "brand" was very positive (they are cheap in absolute terms, but they are amongst the most expensive of the LPS sold on Aliexpress, and reading the descriptions on the sale pages there is always far less gibberish and "Chinese English" than most other products, which seems to indicate they know what they are doing ;)

It was Duster, here on AA, who was one of the firsts to discover their price/quality ratio.
I'm sure I will be pleasantly surprised!

While not a Zerozone product, I'm experimenting by ditching the 2-pin aviation connector (aka Cobra plug) for the detachable DC umbilical of a Studer900 PSU. The back panel cut-out hole is 16mm so it can accommodate a 3/8" strain relief bushing (cable gland) in order to hardwire a DC umbilical to the circuit board.

Actually a "semi-hardwired" DC umbilical, since the PCB features a set-screw type DC output terminal, so no removal of the circuit board is required to make permanent solder joints.

So it's easy to swap-out various DC umbilical builds by simply opening the top of the enclosure via the four screws near the top. Make sure to implement robust strain relief where the DC umbilical is clamped by the cable gland, and for the first few inches of the cable where it exits the enclosure. I'm working on yet another DIY DC umbilical build that seems promising, especially for a hardwired DC umbilical project, this time for a Zerozone 50VA PSU.

But otherwise the performance of these power supplies is quite good..... Definitely a step up from the IFI products.

Update:
unfortunately, after waiting for the (relatively quick) arrival of the package, it turns out the guy at the warehouse made a mistake... I received a more expensive model (externally identical) but with a 5V output.
And there's no way to adjust the output voltage other than replacing plenty of parts inside, starting with the transformer.
I had discussed with the seller to sent it back and have a refund for the MSRP + one way shipping, but now I went to the post offie and for me to send it back it would cost me 65 euro !!!
So I decided to try to sell it :-( I already paid shipping and taxes, I can't pay 65euro again.
