I've been wanting to upgrade the Neutrik male XLR DC input jack of my Aragon 18K MkII preamplifier unit for quite some time now, especially after finding a product that should have been developed and marketed by Xhadow, since the design concept is theirs, but taken up by a high-quality Asian manufacturer. I read years ago that Xhadow intended to offer high-performance XLR jacks to mate with their SOTA XLR connectors, but that simply never happened.

EIZZ is a Chinese manufacturer I find to produce word-class audiophile connectors, and the cost of their products reflect the quality-level since they aren't cheap, although not particularly expensive. Definitely a high-value line of products, if not competitive with western brands at similar price points. The most attractive aspect of the EIZZ XLR jack is the massive Teflon dielectric, not unlike the massive Teflon dielectric of the Xhadow XLR connectors, which not only provides a low dielectric constant material as an electrical insulator, but also good vibration control properties vs. inferior plastics. The important conductive benefit of the design is a tellurium copper base metal contact vs. a mundane brass contact, which tends to be of very notable sonic benefit, to my ear.

In this case, the EIZZ XLR jack will be used as a DC umbilical jack between an Aragon IPS outboard power supply unit and an Aragon 18K MkII preamplifier unit. The DIY DC umbilical for the preamplifier is terminated with a female Xhadow Precision XLR connector, with improved performance vs. a gold Neutrik XLR plug. However, the Xhadow XLR has been connected to a mundane Neutrik XLR jack with questionable sound quality from the get-go. Upgrading the stock Neutrik jack with an EIZZ XLR jack should be an interesting upgrade to evaluate.

I've been looking to change out the XLR connectors on my Classe' 6. These seem like a good solution.

After replacing the stock Neutrik XLR jack with an EIZZ XLR jack for use as a 3-pole DC input jack located on the back of a preamplifier unit, coming from an outboard power supply unit, my immediate impression was similar to that of an IEC inlet upgrade, such as when a nickel plated brass Schurter IEC inlet is replaced with a gold plated phosphor bronze or pure copper Furutech IEC inlet tends to provide. It's not a jaw-dropping improvement, but a certainly meaningful and cost-effective upgrade. The primary benefits are a subtle improvement of spatial information against a somewhat blacker background, with slightly less congestion and a more streamlined sense of speed; as if a subtle veil was lifted.
