It's been a longtime since I have posted. I suffered through 2 strokes, and a year long battle with cancer. I have been a bit preoccupied. I have had a thought of selling off my tube collection. If not by me then by one of my survivors. I would estimate it to be over 200 NOS tubes. From what I have read, I understand Jim Mcshane is no longer involved with the selling of NOS tubes.

I'm just wondering, if I do decide to sell off my collection is there anyone interested in purchasing all of them? I would not be interested in selling a select few. It would be all or nothing.

Sorry to hear this, can't imagine what you've been through. My suggestion is to list the tubes in the AudioAsylum Trader and either state an asking price or take offers. Just make it clear you don't want to separate the lot.

While Jim McShain has said he is slowing down his web site is up to date and active. Why not email him to ask?
Here is the link to his site.

I am no longer selling the current production Russian made tubes. When my remaining current production (received pre-Ukraine invasion) Russian tube stock is gone, I will no longer be carrying Russian made tubes. I will continue to sell down my old stock and other tubes, but once my tube stock is gone - that's it!

There is an explanation on my tube page if you want to read more.

That information certainly appears to put the high end audio manufacturers in a bind. Other than Russia there is only JJ,and China manufacturing? I can guarantee the manufactures in China will raise prices. My best business friends are Chinese. They are quite savvy! If you need what they have, and they know it. They want more money. I have noticed NOS on ebay has gone up quite a bit.

My logistics are difficult. When I learned I had cancer, I had to enlist family, and hire workers to swiftly pack my belongings and relocate everything near the hospital I was at. That was convenient as I have a sister near the hospital. It's all packed away.I will need to dig it out of the storage locker and get a list of what I have. Sounds like a job for the spring.

I was only speaking for myself! There are Russian tubes available, but I'm not buying any. Other sellers/manufacturers may feel differently.

I would totally agree with you. , posted on March 4, 2023 at 10:39:25

I'm very sorry to hear about your health issues.

I'd recommend an ad on DIY Audio. They may have more throughput and the site is full of builders.

I bought a single Gold Lion 12au7 for my Cronus Magnum II a few months ago before deciding no more current production Russian tubes. I am very pleased with JJ's EL34 and 6CA7 and am considering buying a quad of their KT88s. For signal tubes it would depend on the tube type I guess, but I won't be sending money to Russia.

I'm not buying them now either, but I do occasionally think about Russian tubes being sold out of Ukraine. Wish I knew more about that situation.

I bought USSR tubes from Ukraine, but not current production Russian tubes. The USSR overproduced all the tubes they used and certain types flooded the market and there were sellers in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, along with Russia.

Thanks for all the replies. I really haven't looked at the current offerings by Ukraine, or Russia. I don't have a clue what is going on over there. I certainly don't think the media has a clue either. I don't think the media here knows what they are talking about concerning our country. But I won't wade in to that mess any further. This is supposed to be fun!

I wrote a journal about my struggle with cancer. It is to say the least, eye opening. But I wont release it here. I can tell you nothing compares to suffering through a cancer that should well have been terminal.

regards

Sorry to hear about your failing health.

I am a tube dealer and would be interested in your collection - whenever you are ready.

Until then, take care.

Cheers,

Paul
