In 2005 I retubed my ARC VT-100 mk3. It has been used very sporadically over those years. The tubes are probably still good but to avoid issues I have now bought new output tubes. Back at that time a member provided great detailed instructions on how to proceed. Well I searched high and low in my papers and can't find them. What bothers me is that the one page instruction sheet from ARC that I have now found online is much shorter than what was provided through AA. The one thing that is so different is that I seem to remember having to buy two multimeters according to the more detailed instructions. Well maybe I had just misplaced one and then bought another, who knows, but I do have two meters in the box!

My question then is: is there a procedure to do this job that uses two multimeters and, if so, why?

I would also appreciate it if anyone out there having detailed instructions to make this chore as safe as possible would provide me a copy.

I do have the safety test lead extension cables and also the ones with a plunger type thing to attach to the test resistors and will order a non-conductive driver for the trim pots since I can't locate the one I had bought previously.

Thanks for the help.

Pat

he presented a thorough picture laden guide of the procedure years ago. I found a previous post but the link is no longer valid.

I'm thinking he still has that info...

Pat,
The MKIII uses 6H30 input tubes which do not need to be biased compared to the MKI and MKII which used 6922 input tubes that needed bias.

Check on the ARC website at one time they had bias instructions online.

Try this link. I remember reading/enjoying Abe's instructions many times over the years.

(Edit This is for the MKII)

Cheers!

Thanks. I am replacing the output tubes only. 6h30s are very long lived.

I wish the amp had a counter for hours in operation or if some some off the shelf counter was available.

The last tube set was installed in 2005 and maybe I went off on a tangent about two meters being required. It seems that this is a requirement for the 6922 input tubes on the Mk 1 and Mark 2.

The amp has been hardly used as I thought it was too good for my purposes!
