Do tubes run any hotter at high volumes?

I know SS amps run way hotter when played loudly. Always wondered if the same applied to tube amplifiers. I guess I could answer my own question if I had a laser temperature gun. Maybe an excuse to rock out and then dig out yours?

Sure they do. The more you ask from them, the more electrons flow and hit the plates, thus making them hotter. That's why git. amps. that are run very hard need retubing more than a HiFi amp that's not normally pushed to saturation. Now I'm talking about Class AB1 amps, Class A amps actually run cooler the harder you drive them because some of the power previously wasted on the plates, are being routed to the load (speaker).
